We All Are In The Health Business

It doesn't matter if you are a business owner or someone that works for a business owner we all have one thing in common; health. A business owner's perspective is one that they have a product to produce and need people to produce that product. This in turn create jobs for those that are looking for them as well as leveraging the business owner's time, in which they can go out into the field and create more business and keep those that are working for them , well, working.

Someone that works for a business owner has an entirely different perspective. They see themselves as their business. They have a family, bills, and dream they want to achieve, which anyone else has the samething, but they get paid less than the business owner? Why? They take less risk.

So what does all of this have to do with health? It is simple.

If you don't have your health you don't have a business to build or a business to go to to earn money for your family
.

The health care costs are probally the biggest expense that a business owner and someone that works for a business has.
Most people are two months away from bankruptcy

Business owner or not it is in our best interest to be as healthy as we possible can. This will allow us to serve our customers as well as hire folks and reduce the unemployment rates of this country.  According to the CDC Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 21% of adults that are 18 years or older smoke.

It wasn't until the 70's did we begin to hear the disadvantages of smoking. Did we take heed to that information? No. Why?Because it was cool. So many of the folks from that era are now beginning to reap the disadvantages of those findings today.  Some have a heart attack that is dealt with stents, some heat attacks are dealt with open heat surgery, and some don't have a chance of being repaired because they don't make it. The average cost for one stent can go as high as $60,000.00 to $80,000. the average cost of bypass surgery is well over $100,000.

How does that effect the business owner? The sky rocketing costs gets passed onto the employees and customers. How does it effect the general labor? You are out of work anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 months therefore reducing your household income and ability to produce a product, your self worth takes a hit as well as your pocket book.

Smoking is just one point in the heath care debate. we use that because it is so prevalent in today's world affairs. New York doesn't allow you to smoke in a bar or restaurant. Michigan doesn't allow you to smoke in a restaurant or on any private business property, Rome Georgia doesn't allow you to smoke on it main street of the town.

Some of you that read this will say "well this doesn't pertain to me as I don't smoke" Our response to that is that a heart attack doesn't know age limits. You can 70 years of age or 18 years of age. Heart disease doesn't discriminate.

The best thing that a business owner or a general laborer can do is to take care of themselves. Walking 30 minutes a day, eating a low sodium, low fat diet, and finding and attacking your stress factors will greatly reduce your chances of having health issues.
