I love gardening, but I never have enough time for it, so my efforts are always hit & miss. I never thought I liked primroses (the plants are sorta weedy-looking) and I was always indifferent to colors -- I liked them all, with no particular preference.

Last year I found yellow primrose plants on a bargain table, too cheap to resist, so I brought them home and stuck them in the ground for the snails to eat.  Huh? About 3 weeks ago, we had a week of freezing weather and figured that was the end of everything. Also, I thought primroses were annuals.  oops Anyway, last week I looked out and there were last year's bright yellow primroses in full bloom, turning a bleak winter landscape into the promise of SPRING! Now I'm in love with primroses and all yellow flowers. How can anybody look at a yellow flower and not feel better?  ok

Undecided     how a green thumb can produce a yellow flower. Smiley

I LOVE yellow flowers, esp daffodils ---- but we don't have any.  The only yellow we have are cactus blooms.

We have 2 1/4 acres at our Maryland home and when we first moved it, my better half wanted several little flower gardens spread around the yard.

Well, we spent the entire summer taking the grass out of the area that was going to be a flower bed. We put nice edging around each bed and filled each with rich dirt. We planted or seeded the beds with all kinds of flowers and plants. Looked pretty good then, the weeds came... LOL Need I say more. That was over 10 years ago..

When we bought this house in 2006, I asked my better half if she wanted to make some flower beds. It's 2009 and we do not have flower beds.. LOL

laughing Smiley, Phil. Here's my "before & after" story:

In 2005, our neighbors' daughter was getting married. She wanted a simple backyard ceremony. Our backyard opens onto a wide creek with a large, flat rockbed, so I volunteered it for the wedding. Seating was in our yard, facing the creek. The wedding party came across our little bridge and walked right out onto the rocks, where the preacher waited. Linda, mother-of-the-bride, and I spent the whole summer working on the flower beds around that little bridge. Here's what it looked like just before the wedding, then another shot a few months later.  Cry

Now those flower beds are weeds and grass, just like yours.

 Shocked What a flood!!

You have a gorgeous back yard.  I miss our old house. It was on an acre that backed up to the river. It was nice  :(

Oh, I'm sorry sorry you had to leave that. We waited and dreamed for 40 years to get ours. It's gonna break our hearts when we get too old and have to leave our little dream cottage.  Cry

I would never be leaving there. Someone would have to take care of me there when I no longer could cause I'd throw a fit if someone tried to take me from there!! laughing
